Painter Janaki Lennie relocates to New Hampshire, begins new series of paintings

I’ve added a new link to my blogroll: painter Janaki Lennie. I met Janaki virtually while she was editing, and I was writing (very) occasional reviews for,  Artlies magazine in Houston during the late nineties and early aughties.

Her landscape paintings reveal nature’s ravaged beauty in urban surroundings. Her series of night skies painted while she lived in Houston featured open expanses of sky bordered by treetops and punctuated by street lights, in a palette of lyrical colors caused by Houston’s thick, moist, subtropical air that traps and refracts the intense light pollution generated by a metropolis of 4 million people.

Janaki has relocated from Canada to New Hampshire and is embarking on a new series of work after renovating her home and building a new studio. She will also be honored at the 2011 Australian Day Gala held by the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Houston.

Congratulations on the honors, Janaki, and best wishes for inspiration in your new environment!
