Last year I set myself many ambitious goals. Too ambitious, and too many of them. There was so much heaviness in not meeting my self-expectations or pursuing my ambitions.
As the year entered its final quarter, I realized that what I wanted this coming year was less.
- Less loftiness.
- Less obsession with ephemera.
- Less drudgery.
But I knew I also wanted more.
- More energy.
- More adventure.
- More art.
Ludwig Mies van der Rohe’s famous artistic philosophy kept running through my head: “Less is more.” This is my motto for the new year.
- Less time in the virtual world is more time in the real world.
- Less time spent on lap-pool drudgery is more variety, intensity and fun in my workouts.
- Less time spent on nit-noi is more time spent on art.
What’s your motto for 2014?
